Pipe Boots — A Problem Almost Every Roof Has
The rubber boot sealing a plumbing vent pipe is one of the most common leak points on any roof — and one of the fastest to fail. We've seen them degrade in as little as 5 years. The cause is almost always UV exposure: the sun slowly breaks down the rubber until it cracks, and water gets in.
Most companies install a standard boot and move on. We don't.
Our Process
- 1.Ice and water shield, cut tight around the pipe, installed first
- 2.A quality roof boot over that
- 3.A sacrificial cap over the top of the boot
Why We Do It This Way
It takes longer. We do it anyway, because the proof isn't in how fast we finish — it's in how the roof performs five, ten, fifteen years from now, long after a faster job would already be leaking again.
